I am a proud, self-taught cook. Food has been a huge part of my life since childhood. I was blessed to have a grandmother who was an amazing Italian cook and a mother who still inspires my dishes. I have taken many culinary courses at institutions like Johnson and Wales and The Viking Cooking School, but a bulk of my training has been from trial and error, recreating dishes from memorable meals eaten out around the world.
In 2007, I opened a cooking school, What’s Cooking, Kids?, and taught both children and adults how to cook. We offered after-school culinary classes, Supper Clubs for adults and corporate team buildings. I had the opportunity to work with great, local restaurants too. I even had the honor of cooking with Joanne Weir at the cooking school. After three successful years, I sold the business and transitioned into private cooking for clients. I prepared dinners and delivered them to clients for the next few years.
I have loved cooking for and with a variety of people. I have found that teaching people to cook and watching them cook for themselves has been so rewarding. My family has loved tasting all these recipes and our two children have become wonderful, inventive chefs themselves. I hope you enjoy these recipes, that have been well vetted, tested multiple times and developed to make them easier to recreate at home.
