Foodie Movies and Shows
Ugly Delicious
I binged watched and tried to cook along to each episode of this David Chang series. He is so likable in the series and really dives into his topics, like pizza, which is the first episode. Looking forward to the next season!
Master of None
Clearly Aziz Ansari is a foodie. His series is both funny and showcases great restaurants and foods as he travels. He even makes an appearance in Ugly Delicious. The season in Italy is delicious!
Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat
Based on her cookbook of the same name, Samin Nosrat dives into each of those elements- salt, fat, acid and heat in this documentary series. Not only is she the happiest cook I’ve ever seen, but everything she makes looks delicious- that focaccia!
Chef
I researched owning and operating a food truck after watching this. The whole family loved the movie. Immediately following the movie, we made the pasta with parsley and steak that he prepares for Scarlett Johansson in the film. The pasta is in our regular rotation here.
The Hundred Foot Journey
Just a beautiful film with beautiful looking food.
Julie and Julia
Loved the idea of cooking your way through a cookbook. Especially beloved Julia Child. Love her story told here.
Big Night
Two Italian brothers plan a dinner party at their restaurant hoping to wow a food critic. Love watching them prepare for the night and what goes into it. I also remember the scene when the diner asks for a side of pasta with her risotto- that’s a hard no!
Babette’s Feast
I saw this movie as a teenager and loved it. Babette is a French cook and wins the lottery. Instead of using the money to better herself, she uses it to prepare a feast for the family she works for and friends. It’s a sweet movie.
Super Size Me
Um, just gross, but interesting to watch. Especially being a product of the 80’s where we consumed a lot of fast food!
Food Inc.
Disturbing look at the way big business has engineered our food in America in a way that is unhealthy and harmful to everything- environment, animals, employees. Eat Local!
Chef’s Table
If you love to hear the personal stories of amazing chefs around the world, you’ll like this series.
Nailed It
This is a funny reality show to watch with kids. I’m not sure where they find contestants who are this clueless in the kitchen, but it’s a recipe for a hilarious disaster.
