Grilled Broccoli

My friend, Adena, has been raving about the grilled broccoli she’s been making this spring, so I decided to give it a try. I love roasted broccoli, but it never occurred to me to grill it. It’s delicious! The grill gives the broccoli slightly charred edges, but keeps the broccoli crispy. Simply dressed in olive oil, salt and pepper is all you need. It’s not much of a recipe, but I wanted to spread the news if this is new to you too.

Grilled Broccoli

Serves 4, as a side dish

PREP 5 minutes

COOK 8 minutes

INGREDIENTS

1 large head of broccoli, slightly trimmed and cut into large slices, keeping the stalks on the florets

Olive oil

Salt and freshly ground pepper

Parmesan cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place all of your broccoli in a large bowl and drizzle liberally with olive oil. Give it a toss to distribute the oil on the florets and stalks.

  2. Generously sprinkle salt and pepper on the broccoli slices and give it a toss to mix the seasoning around.

  3. Grill the broccoli for 3 minutes on the first side, then flip for another 4 minutes, moving the broccoli around if it starts to burn. The broccoli will be a bright green with charred edges.

  4. Remove the broccoli from the grill and shave some fresh parmesan on top. Serve hot or at room temp. Enjoy!
